Universal Studios created and truly defined the horror film genre beginning in the 1920s. Among Universal's most famous monsters was the Creature, whose mysterious ways in the murky depths caused many moviegoers to avoid swimming in the wilds.
The 1954 film Creature From the Black Lagoon was released in 3-D and was followed by The Creature Walks Among Us and Revenge of the Creature (all available here at MyMovieMonsters.com). The series involves the story of a timid, misunderstood creature discovered almost by accident by archeologists searching for the remain skeleton to go with a bony claw they unearthed. In the sequel, man tries to tame the Creature by experimenting on him with unfortunate results.
