THE MAD GENIUS: A Retrospect

Award winning author Greg Mank (2009 Rondo Award, best book) look at the John Barrymore film, The Mad Genius, which was released in 1931, the same year of Lugosi's Dracula, Karloff's Frankenstein, Frederic March's Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, and Barrymore's own Svengali. The film was directed by Michael Curtiz, who would go on to win an Oscar for Casablanca.

DRACULA GOES TO THE JUNIOR HIGH

Number one Lugosi scholar, Gary Rhodes, shares with Monsters from the Vault one of his latest discoveries, a 1950 summer stock version of Dracula featuring Bela Lugosi. What makes this different is that Lugosi and the St. Petersburg Players performed Dracula, not at a working theatre, but instead on the auditorium stage of the South Side Junior High School in St. Petersburg, Florida.
