David McCallum (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) portrays Gwyllm Griffiths, a Welsh coal miner "thrust forward into our biological future" by Professor Mathers, using a machine that compresses ten thousand years of evolution into the space of a few seconds.

Gwyllm's bulbous-brained countenance is one of The Outer Limits most recognizable images, and The Sixth Finger, one of the series most creative and provocative episodes.
